Drive to Penrith, then drive country roads to Glenridding

From the South - Windermere
At Windermere follow the A592 through Troutbeck Bridge, Troutbeck, High Green, Town head, over the steep Kirk Stone Pass then going down to Sykeside Camp Site then Hartsop, Bridgend, Patterdale to Glenridding.
From the North – Penrith M6 Junction 40.
Scenic route:
At M40 J40 head East along A66 for ½ mile to big roundabout. (If you need fuel turn left going first main exit north into Penrith on A6 now.) If not need fuel then turn third main exit for south along A6 through Eamont Bridge then turn right along B5320 to Yanwath, Tirril, Pooley Bridge. Cross the new Pooley bridge to join up with the Lake Ullswater north side along the B5320 which merges at Waterfoot into the A592 road to Watermillock then Glencoyne to Glenridding.
Quicker route:
At M6 J40 head West along A66 dual carriage way to roundabout, with Rheged centre on left (last vehicle fuel station), turning first main exit left onto A592 with Dalemain country house on right then Soulby, Waterfoot , keeping right at T junction along A592 on Lake Ullswater north side to Watermillock then Glencoyne to Glenridding
